Are there any Sutter Creek fire fighters at the angora fire that's burning right now?

Yes, the Sutter Creek Fire Protection District (separate from the City of Sutter Creek) has sent a strike team for mutual aid. One City of Sutter Creek employee, also a volunteer fire fighter, is with the strike team. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.

Does the City of Sutter Creek have plans for an online employment posting and online applications for City employment? I lived in Amador County at one time, I would like to eventually return.

Yes, the City will post any openings that it has on its web page. The only position that we anticipate having open this year are one public works streets and parks position (December/January) and one Grade 4 waste water operator/manager position (July/August).

J,

Sorry I missed your post. Sutter Creek is a great place for you to move with your son. The people here are very welcoming and you'll be part of the community immediately. School groups, youth and church groups, and athletics are all very active and welcome new members. If you decide to move here, please contact me and I will put you in touch with the groups in which you are interested.

I'm trying to locate the 'Palace Hotel'(or what it is now). My husband proposed to me there 22 years ago. It was in (or near) Sutter Creek, but can't find any info re: what it is now or if it's still standing. Does anyone remember it??

We Have been living in Sutter Creek for 3 years, and every time we go out of town and come back we always have a feeling of comfort and security. Thanks to our Police, Sherrifs and Highway Patrol that are constanly keeping our roads and Highways safe and in order!!!. Let's keep that way. Thanks.

Would the city consider putting a stop sign just past the park on Sutter Creek Volcano Rd. (or maybe it is called Eureka Street while it is in town). For the past three years I have been taking my granddaughters to soccer practice there, and I am amazed at how fast traffic goes by the park. It is always a mircle if you back out from the parking spaces and don't have some vehicle almost run over you. As you come into Sutter Creek on Sutter Creek Volcano Rd. the 25 mile sign is almost totally hidden by tree branches and I don't think there has been a car in the past year that actually goes that slow. The stop sign on Shake Ridge on the other side of town has really slowed down traffic, and I think it is time to make the park a safe place again. Thanks for the considereation.

It would be really helpful if you would post the dates (instead of times) on comments, so anyone reading would know how timely the information is. Thanks

my grandparents ran a boarding house in sutter creek back in the 1920's and 1930's which housed over 100 miners - I never knew the location or name of their business however I did learn that in the late 1970's this large building structure was torn down. Is there anyone who might have living family memebers that would remember this location? My grandmother would mention that all supply purchases for their business were bought from a Mr. Chichizola. My parents left sutter creek in 1930(1) never to return. My mother and her brother were born in sutter creek in 1925 and 1927 respectively.

My daughter and I stopped in to Sutter Creek this last weekend and what a great little town we found. Everyone is so friendly and seems to be very proud of this wonderful little town. We have driven by for years on our way to Tahoe and I am so glad we finally drove in to explore. Can't wait to come back. Love it.
